Stubborn Heel Pain/Plantar Fasciitis

Heel Pain can have several causes, but the most common is Plantar Fasciitis.  A classic symptom is a sharp pain under the heel when first stepping out of bed.  Many patients says they hop around on their tip-toes until the pain gets a bit better.  This situation repeats day after day.

Burning pain with stiffness at the back of the heel is something different, click here for more details on that.

Plantar fasciitis pain can range from annoying to excruciating.  This heel pain can affect work activities, can cause a person to limp, and even lead to knee and back pain from compensating during walking.  This pain can interfere with exercise routines and stifle vacation plans.

At Sohl Foot & Ankle, we have great success treating our patients with heel pain and preventing recurrence.

Treatment for plantar fasciitis requires a multiprong approach which includes: proper footwear, functional arch supports, stretching and anti-inflammation therapy.

Too often fear of a doctor (White Coat Syndrome) delays intervention, leading to increased pain.

The worst cases may even require physical therapy or surgery, but this rare.
