Leg Pain: What's Causing Yours?

Leg Pain can come in several different forms and from different causes.  Depending where exactly the leg pain is, and how it occurs is vital to understanding what is happening.  It might only be a leg, but there is a lot going on between the knee and the ankle.  It's our job to figure this out and help make it better.

Below are some common ailments that are common in our podiatry office.

Overuse injuries like shin splints can mess up work, exercise and sport activities.

These are more common with your runners and athletes, but we have seen them with other demographics too.

Sometimes leg or calf pain can occur from something called a "compartment syndrome".  This issue causes a cramping/burning sensation in the calf with walking or running activities.

Stress Fractures of the shin bone (aka the Tibia) need to diagnosed with the help of x-rays.  We can do that at our office.

THE CAPTION NEEDS TO BE EDITTED eading to increased pain.

One of the most serious leg pains comes from poor circulation issues.  If the arteries of the leg become blocked due to systemic issues like atherosclerosis, this causes pain and needs to be thoroughly investigated to prevent gangrene.  It's not a foregone conclusion this will happen if it is diagnosed and treatment is rendered.
